Knowing that the baby was seeking medical treatment, this man investigated wisely and promptly and discovered the rescue of the pet. He rushed to take the sick animal to a vet.

“He was tiny, his jaw was crooked, he had a lot of edema, a lot of damaged tissue, and he had no sensation in his leg,” Christine Adams, Medical Director of the Iowa Veterinary Referral Center, told reporters.

Sunkist, the kitten’s new name, is recovering after surgery. He suffered a shattered jaw and a severely damaged leg, according to the doctors.

Unfortunately, due to his injuries, he had to have his front limb amputated.

An Animal Rescue Organization that is Run by Foster Parents
AHeinz57 Pet Rescue & Transport, Inc., situated in De Soto, Iowa, is a 501(c)3 non-profit foster-based animal rescue organization. We are a one-of-a-kind rescue group in that we operate primarily to bridge the gap between regular animal shelters and no-kill rescues in two ways:

1) By offering free transportation to no-kill rescues across the Midwest and Canada for pets from regular shelters. We also provide nightly rest stations for our furry travelers, as well as interim homes for animals whose time at the shelters has run out but who must wait for a foster space in one of the rescues.

2) By rescuing dogs on death row from regular shelters and placing them in foster homes and permanent homes through our group.
