As this fairly corpulent feline called Faye can attest, having a little extra pudge pays off on sometimes.
She recently earned a new permanent home to let it all hang out in after a stay at the animal shelter, where her eye-catching size certainly made her impossible to overlook.
Faye was rescued by the Jacksonville Humane Society in Florida when her previous owner was no longer able to care for her — although she had plenty of food at her previous residence. The adoring feline weighed in at a staggering 24 pounds, making her one of the chubbiest cats anybody had ever seen.
“In recent years, we’ve had a few other cats around 18 to 20 pounds, but Faye tips the scales,” a shelter representative told The Dodo.
But not only is Faye quite plump, she’s pretty jiggly too. Photos posted online show that even getting a grip on her can be quite a challenge (albeit a cute one).
“It’s like holding the world’s most adorable medicine ball!” the shelter confirmed.
Faye’s images became viral on social media, despite the fact that she’s not the most cooperative model. She picked up hundreds of likes and shares on the Jacksonville Humane Society’s Facebook page in less than 24 hours. After that, adoption offers flooded in, but one family took the initiative to get Faye out of the shelter as quickly as possible.
The shelter adds that “her new mother traveled nearly two hours to be first in line.” “She stated they had an instant connection and were quite excited,” she added.
Faye’s new home has emphasized the need of getting her back on track to a healthier weight, so with a better diet and regular exercise, she should be able to start losing weight in her new home.
Faye’s new sibling, we’re sure, will make sure she stays busy — and, most importantly, loved.
