A Stray Cat Jumps Into The Family Car And Decides To Live With Them For The Rest Of His Life

Melina Marama Waite was on her way to drop her two children off at daycare and her 9-year-old daughter off at school on a busy morning when she saw a stranger had crept inside her car.

Waite told The Dodo, “We were parked behind several cars at a crossroads when all of a sudden a small cat got on the dashboard.” “I was really taken aback and had no idea what to do.”

Waite was stunned and perplexed when she noticed a cat sitting on the dashboard directly in front of her, and the cat was as bewildered.

“When the traffic moved I started moving and the cat slipped and panicked and tried to grab the rearview mirror and my daughter freaked out,” Waite said. “I tried to grab the cat then it fell and ran to the back of the car somewhere.”

Waite and her daughter drove straight home. When she got home, she tried to catch the kitten, but he leaped out of the car and bolted. But, to her surprise, he showed up at her place the next morning for breakfast. He returned for breakfast the next day and every day after that.

“The next day, and every day after that, he came back for breakfast,” Waite added. “Every day, he allowed me to draw closer to him.”

Thanks to a humane trap from a local cat rescue, Waite successfully caught the kitten. She took him to the veterinarian, where he was examined. He was named Dash, and now he is safe and sound inside her house.
