A Sstray Cat Ddecides To Join The Family In Their Vehicle And Stay With Them Forever

Melina Marama Waite was en route to drop off her two children at daycare and her daughter, 9, at school on a busy morning when she suddenly became aware that a stranger had broken into her car.

Waite told The Dodo, “We were parked behind several cars at a crossroads when all of a sudden a tiny cat got on the dashboard. “I was very shocked, and I had no idea what to do.”

The abrupt appearance of a cat sitting just in front of Waite on the dashboard absolutely startled and perplexed her, and it goes without saying that the cat felt the same way.

“When the traffic moved I started moving and the cat slipped and panicked and tried to grab the rearview mirror and my daughter freaked out,” Waite said. “I tried to grab the cat then it fell and ran to the back of the car somewhere.”

Waite and her daughter immediately drove home. Arriving at home, she tried to grab the kitten, but he jumped out of the car and quickly ran away. But amazingly, he showed up at her house the next morning and had some breakfast. He came back for breakfast the next day and every day.

“He came back for breakfast the next day and every day after that,” Waite said. “He let me get closer [to him] each day.”

Waite was able to catch the kitten using a humane trap from a nearby cat rescue. She brought him to the vet, who examined him. Dash was his name, and he is now secure inside her home.

He will stay with Waite’s family or move into another forever home. But no matter what happens, Dash definitely picked the right car and found his forever home.
