The Cat Became A Foster Dad For A Newborn Cat And Helped Save Her Life

Two small, critically unwell kittens were born on March 9. They were placed in a foster household a day later.

When they first came, a kind cat in the neighborhood named Benny believed that these little fur balls required twice as much love and care.

The woman who took the babies from the local orphanage is named Helen Carozza. She works as a veterinarian at NOVA Cat Clinic in Virginia.

“The staff at the shelter knew they couldn’t provide these babies with serious treatment, so they rushed to bring them to me from Spotsylvania County,” recalls Helen.

The babies survived the 2-hour trip in order to get a better chance of survival.

The kittens were 24 hours old. They looked like two mini versions of snow-white Benny. The cat himself, as always, offered his help to the hostess and willingly shared with her the care of the new wards.

Benny has been fascinated by kittens since the first time he saw them.

Helen continuously fed the infants via bottle. “When one kitten started urinating blood, which was an immediate sign of health issues, we understood we were dealing with a serious case.”

48 hours later, despite all human attempts, one of the infants passed away.

“Benny realized that the remaining kitten really needed him and began to take part in every feeding and grooming session. He came every hour to visit the sick little one, ”says Helen.

“We like to think that Benny deliberately didn’t let the little one give up. He was extremely persistent, caring and considerate.”

“Despite proper treatment and constant supervision, we still could not save them all. But on the other hand, we gained invaluable experience and next time we can save more lives in a similar situation.”

The remaining girl, Jubilee, pulled through and Benny took care of her with full dedication.

“He looked after our home incubator 24/7, waiting for me from work, looking out the window. And after all this, he still had the strength to give kisses, we call them “blessings of Benny”, and wash the children, ”says Helen.

After 5 days, Jubilee began to change the color of her eyes, tail, nose and fingertips.

“She began to look more like a polar bear cub than a cat cub. Obviously, she had Siamese in her family, ”says Helen.

Benny spent as much time as possible with the infant and made an effort to give her a sense of security.

Under the care of her foster father, the girl began to purr and become prettier.

“Jubilee loves to have her tummy scratched, and she also loves to lie in human hands, like in a cradle,” says Helen.

“Benny considers Jubilee his fair lady and himself her white knight. He is still on duty next to her while she sleeps.

Today is Jubilee’s tenth day. “Benny’s parenting styles evolve as she gets older. He’ll soon start instructing her in the fine art of being a cat.

Jubilee was able to survive in large part because of the help from her adoptive father. The girl is now eating regularly and becoming stronger every day.
