Kitten Travels 300 Miles While Hiding In The Bumper Of A Navy Pilot’s Car

Lieutenant Nick, a pilot with the 814 Naval Air Squadron, also known as the Flying Tigers, spotted the cat while travelling 300 miles from Birmingham Airport to the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall in June.

“I’d flown into Birmingham after a vacation and traveled through Bristol and Bath before landing in Cornwall late,” the 32-year-old pilot explained.

Lieutenant Nick said, “I searched in the boot, under the hood, and crawled all over and under it and still couldn’t locate what was generating the noise.” “I summoned a few of our air engineers, who assisted me in disassembling my pride and joy.”

Most guys wouldn’t think of tearing their car apart to investigate a strange noise, but the Lieutenant was welcomed by a small tiger-striped cat after removing his back bumper.

Surprisingly, the tiny fellow survived the lengthy voyage uninjured.

“I’m never late for work, so I had no choice but to bring my new acquaintance in with me,” Lieutenant Nick said. “He has felt the most at ease in my flight helmet, which is the only place he is able to sleep.”

Commander Brendan Spoors, Commanding Officer of the Flying Tigers said, “We are more than happy to adopt ‘Tigger’ as a mascot, after all it’s a tradition for Royal Naval units to have a ships cat!”
