The Family Who Was Camping On A Mountain Adapted The Abandoned Cat
Jamie Myers of Spokane, Washington, was on a family camping vacation with her ten-year-old daughter when she noticed a cat with its head protruding out of a drainpipe on the side of the road. They couldn’t just turn away as animal lovers and decided to investigate further.
“So she and I set out to find said kitten, which we accomplished and discovered to be a PREGNANT KITTY.” We came upon a drain pipe beneath the road, and what did we see but two small eyes staring back at us.
The drain pipe was unfit for any live creature, much less a stray cat. Jamie and her daughter began attempting to lure the terrified kitten out using food provided from the adjacent Campground.
The cat sprang out of the pipe and began devouring every bit of food that was handed to her, much to their amazement.
The owner of the campsite was really helpful and even gave him cat food to pull him off. “We opened the small food can and she did not hesitate for a second,” recalls Jamie.
“It may be the simplest rescue we have ever done,” Jamie said.
She was nothing but skin and bone, which made it obvious that she was significantly pregnant.
As a result, they both saw that she need immediate assistance and returned her to the camping grounds to care for her.
She was remarkably friendly, following them about the campground everywhere they went.
Jamie stated, “She didn’t hesitate to sleep in the bed with us, snuggle on the sofa with us, and appeared really glad that she was saved.”
Because of her welcoming demeanor, it was clear that this unfortunate cat had been abandoned, surviving in a drain pipe for who knows how long.
However, their lives were about to change for the better when her relatives pulled her from the campground and returned her home.
Caki, as she was known, blossomed quickly after only a few days in her new home. She could rest while waiting for her due date because she didn’t have to worry about where her next meal would come from.
