Fred The Cat Attracts The Attention Of Passers-By Because He Believes They Should Feed Him

Harvey is a small town in Louisiana. However, it seems that in their hands they have a big cat, which enjoys being the center of attention. Fat Fred is a fitting label for him. Because this is a tabby cat approximately three times larger than your typical 8-10 pound cat companion.

Marcia Riedel, a veterinarian at Furry Friends Animal Hospital in Harvey, LA, not far from New Orleans, just adopted him. And it seems she immediately realized that her heavy table would rather spend time at work with his crowds of admirers than stay at home all day.

At the animal hospital where he likes to kill time, Fat Fred is unquestionably a staff favorite. However, it appears that his theatrical cat antics are attracting the attention of passers-by to their enterprise.

One thing is certain: this is a cat with a huge personality.

After queries poured in, one Reddit user with the nickname KneeAppallingTanIceCream published photographs of the placard that Furry Friends prepared on Fred’s behalf. And it seemed that everyone who saw this large boy had a lot of questions for them. So, instead of making a sign, they decided to make one to tell everyone who comes by the clinic the skinny on Fat Fred. Many individuals have noticed it, including thousands of people online!

The following is the original Reddit post on Fat Fred, the large cat:

And here’s the Fat Fred photo that went viral on Reddit, along with his now-famous sign:

“This is Fat Fred,” says the narrator. He’s a young lad. He is not expecting a child. He is 28 pounds in weight. He is, in fact, on a diet. No, that isn’t functioning properly.”

“Fred is a people person. You are welcome to come in and pet him. He sits on tiny toddlers and enjoys having his hips stroked.”

“We don’t have any smaller models available for adoption, but we do have Fat Fred.”

Fred is grateful with the care he is getting, according to Furry Friends Animal Hospital. “He is establishing the ‘Fat Fred’s Food Pantry,’ and will be collecting donations for individuals who are not as well-endowed in their adipose tissue percentages,” they said.

We are thankful that Fred is in such capable care. Even if he doesn’t believe it when it comes to the food rations that the people who have grown to love him have given him. We also appreciate Furry Pals’ encouragement to others to consider adoption of our feline friends. Let’s hope that in the coming year, we’ll see less and less of Fat Fred in the physical sense.

Obesity in cats is on the rise, and assisting your cat in maintaining a healthy weight is the first step toward ensuring that the two of you have a long and happy life together.
