Victor’s mother realized when he was a kitten that the one thing he despises the most is tangerines.

Victor has been an exceptionally sociable cat since his mother brought him home, and nothing seems to bother him. He follows his mother wherever she goes and falls in love with everyone he meets, but despite his self-assurance, he has one major — and peculiar — phobia.

Victor’s mother realized when he was a kitten that the one thing he despises the most is tangerines.

Victor’s mother, Irene Olocco, told The Dodo, “We were sitting on the couch, I took a tangerine, and as I began to peel it, he hissed and raced away.”

Victor’s vice, according to Olocco, was all comparable orange fruits, and he wouldn’t go near them. Victor’s mother planned to use this new kryptonite to her advantage because he has always been a little obstinate, especially when it comes to “house rules.”

“I started putting oranges or tangerines on the furniture where I didn’t want him to climb on,” Olocco explained.

“Don’t ruin the Christmas tree” is one of the house rules Victor has always enjoyed to break. Every year, he steals Christmas balls from the tree and ruins numerous ornaments and other decorations, and his mother could never figure out how to keep him away – until she had the finest idea.

Thanks to Victor’s unusual phobia, Olocco’s tree is now protected, and it appears that encircling the tree with tangerines will become a new yearly ritual.
