The Half Paralyzed Kitten Does Not Give Up Hope Of One Day Being Able To Walk

Only a few animal rescue organizations have the skills, time, and passion to help animals with specific needs. Those who have battled genetic abnormalities and struggled throughout their brief lives may not always have the strength to keep fighting. These miracle infants, on the other hand, are just that. Unfortunately, some people do not overcome these challenges and succumb to their illnesses, breaking our hearts every time. Then there are those, like Mr. Fiddlesticks, who have an unquenchable desire to succeed.

And if his rescuers refuse to give up on him, Mr. Fiddlesticks will undoubtedly give it his all in that fight as well!

On August 20th, this squishable little face emerged in an email appeal to local animal charities in Tampa, Florida. These is unfortunately not unusual for rescues to get communications like this.

A rescuer who can open their hearts and organizations to care for these creatures is not as prevalent. Accepting these sorts of challenges, however, frequently results in loss for these people. And continuing to care for special needs animals is an emotional roller coaster.

Fortunately, Dani the Cat Lady was the first to respond when the notice was opened. Dani and her rescue group, The Runaways Animal Rescue, have a lot of experience with paralyzed kittens.

Mr. Fiddlesticks belonged in her care, and she raced to get him before he was terminated.

Mr Fiddlesticks, my newest foster. When you’re feeling down, it’s nice to have something pleasant and familiar to brighten you up. I was saddened when Tucker and Ramona died. Even though I was surrounded by kittens and cats, there was still a large emptiness in my heart.

I began feverishly seeking other paralyzed kittens in need, desperate to rediscover that same joy, and while knowing that no one could ever replace him, I couldn’t stop myself.

Then I took a step back and waited. I reasoned that if a special kitty required my assistance, they would find me.

Then, two days ago, my friend Gina at Pasco County Animal Services sent me a plea about a cat who couldn’t use his rear legs, and I COULD NOT RESPOND FAST ENOUGH, haha. We picked him up the other day, and he’s the loveliest little darling. Mr Fiddlesticks is doing his best to fill the hole in my heart that is still there. There’s a chance he’ll be able to walk again, so we’re starting with treatment to see if we can help him.

When she first saw the ginger nugget, her heart both swelled and burst. They left death row, promising him they’d do everything they could to help him survive, and set out to improve his life.

What she didn’t realize was Mr. Fiddlesticks’ incredible drive and battle within his small, damaged ginger form!
The small kitten, on the other hand, need a wash first. And, like most felines, he didn’t like it! Hopefully, he gets used to it since paralyzed animals require them to remain clean.

Dani then had to come up with a creative solution to an issue. Mr. Fiddlesticks is forced to wear a diaper in order to protect himself… and her home. So, how do you keep a fidgety, energetic kitty in a diaper?!

Because, despite the fact that his legs aren’t working right now, he is exhibiting symptoms of being able to move them on his own!

Dani knows she has to keep pushing him to utilize his flailing limbs if he is to have any hope of walking. He’s not in agony, but in typical kitty fashion, he cheerfully expresses his dissatisfaction in the nicest voice possible.

If all they’ve known is struggle their whole lives, many animals may develop an angry personality.

There are always animals in need of aid in the rescue industry. Mr. Fiddlesticks was delighted to join Dani and her fiance, Luke, on yet another life-saving mission.

We drove to Sebastian, FL today to pick up four very special kittens who had just arrived from @humanesocietygrandbahama. Since Mr Fiddlesticks is still on the bottle, he gets to go along. He’s been a terrific passenger and has been comfortable and secure in his @sleepypod for the journey!

He’s exhibiting symptoms of being able to walk on his own every day while he’s been in her care. Every motion is an inspiration to Dani, from merely holding her finger with his paw to small kicks of the feeble limbs.

LOOK AT THOSE EXTREMELY STRONG LEGS!! Is this a Caturday bash or something? Mr Fiddlesticks was first deemed not to have a significant pain feeling, which usually implies he has a slim to no chance of regaining movement.

However, I’ve been conducting at-home treatment with him for the past week and have detected minor movements in his bottom half.

Mr. Fiddlesticks has made friends with the other fosters and enjoys a good romp like any other spunky kitten.
