Every Time The Dishwasher Completes A Cycle The Cat Appears

Gripen has been with her family since she was a kitten, and she has always enjoyed getting involved in household activities, even if she isn’t meant to.

Micaela Strömberg, Gripen’s mother, told The Dodo, “She is a really humorous, inquisitive, and curious youngster.” “She enjoys mischief and has dragged towels and even drapes that I had hung up to dry since she was a kitten.”

She eats the food I leave on the counter for later, steals my dishcloth, and toys with my two Dalmatians.”

Gripen has a lot of energy, but the dishwasher is the one thing that makes her calm down.

When Gripen managed to get onto the counter one day, she found that when the dishwasher is turned off and opened, it emits a fog of steam that’s similar to a spa treatment – and the curious cat was instantly hooked. When Gripen hears the dishwasher end a cycle, she dashes over to the counter above it and settles in for her daily steam facial. She’ll even show up early on occasion, just to be safe.

“She lays on the counter every time the dishwasher is running, a few times a week,” Strömberg said. “She sits there about 20 minutes.”

As soon as the dishwasher opens, Gripen lets the steam wash over her, and the look on her face says it all.

Gripen may be a little rowdy a lot of the time, but her dishwasher spa treatments are the one time of day when she’s always relaxed. It may be a little weird, but it works for her — so why not, right?
