Every Night Before Bed The Cat Demands A Ride In Her Box

After being abandoned, Selina was adopted into her family, and her father has always been her favorite person.

“He loves to hold her around like a baby,” Selina’s cousin Divya Krishnan told The Dodo.

Selina and her father have always had a particular affinity and like doing things together, and one night when he returned home from work, they unintentionally invented a delightful game that has since been their regular habit.

Selina was relaxing in a box, one of her favorite pastimes, when her father decided that the box needed to be moved. Rather than forcing Selina to move, he just dragged the box to its proper location while she remained inside — and she was ecstatic.

“He wanted to move the box one night while she was in it, and the next minute she was in the box enjoying the time of her life, so now he keeps at least two boxes upstairs for her to ride in,” Krishnan said.

Selina and her father had developed a regular ritual. She waits for him to get home from work at the front entrance, then follows him upstairs and waits for him to change. She jumps into her cage when he’s ready, and he drags her about for a bit. Selina refuses to go without it since it’s the ideal way to conclude the day.

“It happens every evening at the same time,” Krishnan said.

If her father refuses to participate in the routine for any reason, or if he takes too long, Selina meows and meows until he understands. She is too attached to their routine to ever let him forget it.

Selina adores her father and relishes the opportunity to do something special with him every night. Selina’s father, on the other hand, adores her and enjoys their routine just as much as she does. Selina and her father have always had a particular affinity, and her father will go to any length to make her happy.
