Ace lost one of his eyes due to illness shortly after being rescued as a stray kitten. Ace’s outer look has caused him to be misunderstood by some new people he encounters, despite the fact that it has never slowed him down or decreased his love for life.

Ace’s owner, Norma Maikovich, told The Dodo, “He may sometimes look menacing, especially to youngsters.” “A lot of people are afraid to greet him.”

But, as Maikovich quickly discovered, this isn’t the case for everyone.

Because Ace typically spends his days sunbathing on the front porch, Maikovich installed a home security camera to keep an eye on him. She had no idea the amazing friendship that the camera would capture blooming.

“We observed one particular youngster visits practically every single day when we looked at the film,” Maikovich added.

Ace clearly enjoys a young neighbor who has made a habit of popping over to spend time with the “scary” cat. Here’s a video from one of these visits:

Maikovich and her family were touched to know that Ace had made a friend who sees him for who he truly is.

“It melted our hearts, not just seeing how much Ace loves this boy, but how familiar they were to each other!” she said. “Sitting by the front door, as soon as Ace sees his friend, he rushes out to greet him. It’s awesome, this bond they share.”

If the youngster thought he had to be covert in his visits, Maikovich has assured him that he is welcome at any time.

“One of Ace’s friends is one of ours,” she explained. “It made us incredibly pleased when we learned they were fast friends.”

Ace seemed to be content as well.

Although some people may continue to avoid Ace merely because he is unusual, they will be the ones who lose out. Because those that look a bit closer, like this sweet neighbor youngster, get to see the beauty of his soul.

That goes for any pet who stands out from the crowd.

“Ace isn’t a terrifying person,” Maikovich remarked, “and it just goes to show that looks aren’t everything.” “Watching Ace and his pal illustrates that, when given the chance at life, love, and a family, animals with unique needs and disabilities are also worth it.”
